Jose Rizal's Childhood

A childhood lifetime of Jose Rizal's youth during his experience with his family.

HERE IS OUR GROUP VIDEO SKIT OF THE EARLY CHILDHOOD LIFE OF RIZAL AND THIS IS WHERE I POTRAYED YUNG RIZAL DESPITE BEING A WOMAN.

Welcome to Jose Rizal's childhood story! Today you will learn how Rizal lived life to the fullest.

“Jose Rizal's upbringing was marked by his ambition to learn, with him even visiting a church near his home to watch and observe people but without being religious. Jose Rizal was not a physically gifted or strong boy, but he had a strong will, which his mother, his first teacher, led and taught him.”

Jose Rizal was born in Calamba Laguna. He is the seventh child of Francisco Mercado Rizal and Teodora Alonso y Quintos, His birth of date is June 19th, 1861 (Same birth month as my Dad except his birthday is on June 4). On June 22, 1861, His full name is JOSE RIZAL MERCADO and he was baptized by the parish priest Rev. Rufino Collantes at the Catholic of Calamba, with Rev. Pedro Casaas as the sponsor. In September 28, 1862, Calamba's parish church and canonical books were burned, including the book in which Rizal's baptismal records were recorded. When Rizal is three years old in 1864, He learned how to read the alphabet with his mother as the teacher/mentor to him. In 1865, He turned five years old and his sister Conception, the Rizal family's eighth child, perished. Rizal recalled crying for the first time on this occasion. Concepcion was just three years old and life is too short for a human being. In 1865-1867, His mother taught him to read and write during this period.

His father engaged Leon Monroy, a classmate who taught Rizal the fundamentals of Latin for five months until Monroy's death. Calamba was frequented at the time by two of his mother's cousins. Uncle Manuel Alberto, seeing Rizal fragile in physique, was concerned about his little nephew's physical development and implanted in him a passion for the outdoors and a deep appreciation for nature's beauty, while Uncle Gregorio, a scholar, instilled in him a love for education. "Work hard and do everything very properly," he told Rizal. "Learn to be quick as well as thorough; think independently and visualize everything."

Rizal travelled to Antipolo with his father to fulfil his mother's promise to carry the infant to the Shrine of the Virgin of Antipolo if she and the kid survived the torture of delivery, which nearly claimed his mother's life.

They then travelled to Manila to see his sister Saturnina, who was studying at the time at La Concordia College in Sta. Ana.

Then in 1869, Rizal penned his first poem, "Sa Aking Mga Kabata," when he was eight years old. It was written in Tagalog and included the theme "Love of One's Language."
